Angle Encoder Modules

HEIDENHAIN launches a new product family that is a merger of HEIDENHAIN bearing and angle encoder technologies. Resulting in the MRP 2000, 5000 and 8000 (as well as customer-specific variants), these unique modules contain bearing sets not conventionally available and are able to be integrated with various encoder types to yield highly stiff modules that are easy to install.

E4.1L Energy Chain

Optimal use of installation space, light weight and high stability—these are just some of the benefits of the E4.1L energy chain from igus, which is now available in new heights and widths from stock. Compared to the E4.1, weight can be reduced by 30 percent, with this light version, meaning that the chain is well suited to highly dynamic applications.

HexGen Hexapods

Aerotech’s HexGen hexapods represent a significant advance in six-degree-of-freedom positioning performance. The HEX500-350HL high-load, precision hexapod is ideal for applications in X-ray diffraction, sensor testing and high-force device manipulation.

ERO 2000 Series Encoder

HEIDENHAIN is meeting the market demand for high-speed, high-resolution modular rotary encoders for motion feedback with the launch of the ERO 2000 series encoder. According to the company, the encoders’ special properties are that they have a compact design, excellent signal quality and, therefore, high interpolation rates, as well as excellent thermal position stability.

1:4 live tool speed multipliers

Heimatec Inc.’s line of 1:4 live tool speed multipliers enable tools to reach a maximum speed of 24,000 rpm. They are available for all popular live tool lathes. The speed multipliers are provided as axial or radial drilling and milling heads, with either internal or external coolant. Mounting configurations suit virtually any machine tool turret setup, including VDI and BMT sizes.

Boost for lathe tool inventory

During IMTS 2012 in September, the Morris Group Inc. announced an exclusive  agreement with SU-matic, a subsidiary of Suhner Holding AG of Switzerland. The deal means Velocity Products, a division of the Morris Group, will supply the North American metalworking industry with tooling for Okuma lathes, multitasking machines and machining centers.

Spindle safety

Jakob Antriebstechnik, a spindle manufacturer in Germany, recently demonstrates its Motor Spindle Safety System, which is said to prevent major damage when spindle collisions occur.
