Scientifically determined laser parameters for UDI marking

In March 2019, FOBA provided the Innovation and Research Center (IFC) Tuttlingen at Furtwangen University (HFU) with a laser marking system. Since then, the system has proven itself in scientific research, as well as for demonstration purposes in front of interested parties from the surrounding medical technology industry. The first study project using FOBA's M2000-P laser marking system with a Y.0201 fiber laser systematically dealt with the determination of the laser parameters for the marking of stainless steel instruments.

GF Machining Solutions unveils Laser S series machines

GF Machining Solutions introduced the AgieCharmilles Laser S series machines to its North American audience at a special event held earlier this month at the company's Lincolnshire, Illinois, location. On display was the Laser S 1000 U, which the company predicted would help manufacturers advance productivity, quality, design freedom, and time to market—all while reducing cost-per-part in markets such as automotive, packaging, and communications technology.

FOBA laser marker handed over to university in Tuttlingen

The Innovation and Research Center (IFC) Tuttlingen of the Hochschule Furtwangen University of Applied Sciences (HFU) and FOBA Laser Marking + Engraving have officially launched their innovation cooperation for medical technology. At a ceremony on March 20 in the new rooms of the IFC on Katharinenstraße, a modern laser marking system was presented, which is now available to the university for its research as well as interested parties from the industry for demonstration purposes.

Providence Texture: A case study in laser machining

Providence Texture LLC, Smithfield, Rhode Island, is a shop leading the way and showing how much femtosecond lasers can do. Femtosecond laser technology represents a new frontier in moldmaking. The aim of this laser is not to replace traditional machining methods but to complement them in a way that ultimately leads to increased productivity for mold shops and other part manufacturers alike.
