Measuring & Inspection Systems

APODIUS Vision System 2D

Hexagon’s Manufacturing Intelligence division launched the APODIUS Vision System 2D, a standalone solution for advanced carbon-fiber part inspection. Designed for fast results within both production-integrated inspection or offline quality assurance contexts, the APODIUS Vision System 2D delivers 2D fiber orientation analysis. The system’s data output options allow for specific actual-to-target value comparison – a key tool for ensuring high-quality results during composite production.

Rapid, robust and flexible tool setting with the Renishaw NC4

Non-contact laser tool setting systems use a beam of laser light passing between a transmitter and a receiver. Positioned correctly these systems can also be used to measure geometry and detect broken tools. The Renishaw NC4 non-contact tool setter can:

• compensate for variation during the machining process

• update the machine’s controller automatically to account for actual effects, e.g. tool wear

• automatically stop the process when broken tools are detected

• reduce rework, concessions and scrap

Dyna Force Measurement Device

BIG KAISER has developed Dyna Force, a device for measuring the retention force of machine tool spindles. Insufficient retention force of the spindle clamping mechanism could lead to reduced rigidity and vibrations, loss of machining quality, poor surface finish and shortened tool life. By ensuring that the retention force is at the correct level, cutting performance remains consistent, providing high-quality machining results.

GE Phoenix v|tome|x m CT Scanner System

Exact Metrology has acquired a new metrology-grade GE Phoenix v|tome|x m, a CT scanner system with dual tube technology, nanofocus to 180Kv and microfocus to 300Kv, significantly expanding the company’s capability in 3D scanning to 2 microns with sufficient power to measure denser parts. Exact Metrology is the first company in the U.S. to purchase this system, according to company sources.

TVS-35 Series Videoscope

Titan Tool Supply Inc. announces the introduction of its new TVS-35 Series Videoscope to provide remote visual inspection for aviation maintenance, casting and cavity inspection, diesel and gasoline engine repair, or locomotive and ship maintenance. The new quality control instrument features full 360° articulation using durable tungsten-braided sheathing that enables easy insertion and bending through complex environments, according to Titan Tool.

S1 Spring Testing Systems

The L.S. Starrett Co. has announced the introduction of a basic, affordable Spring testing solution designed for compression and extension springs. The new Starrett S1 Spring testing systems were developed for high-volume production testing for users seeking more consistent results over manual testing methods.
