MSC Software Corp., part of Hexagon's Manufacturing Intelligence division and a global leader in computer-aided engineering (CAE) simulation software and services, announced MSC Apex Generative Design, a new design optimization solution that improves quality through automation of design processes with embedded manufacturing knowledge.

The latest release of VISI mold and die software enhances the progressive die design processes, along with enhancements for the Reverse module. Upgrades to the new part unfolding technology provides the ability to work directly on the original solid model, supports blanking functionality, and manages parts with non-linear bends.

As part of Hexagon’s philosophy of supporting data-driven smart factories, the latest release of ALPHACAM CAD/CAM software speeds up how jobs that require several processes are managed. A new job type has been introduced in ALPHACAM 2020.1. The new “Multiple Process Jobs” functionality makes it simpler to create jobs and orders in the ALPHACAM Automation Manager for jobs that need to be output to more than one machine or that require secondary processing at the same machine.

Specific simulation import, a couple of additional reader translators and client viewer measurements all feature in a number of enhancements in the latest release of WORKXPLORE – the CAD viewer and analyzer from Hexagon’s Production Software portfolio.

A new piece of specialist CAD-for-CAM software specifically for sheet metal has been launched alongside the latest release of Radan. Radan Designer will form a pivotal part of Radan’s CAD/CAM functionality in preparing parts for bending, nesting and cutting. From model design to part repair and modification, it is said to be a solution for taking geometry through to manufacture.

Elysium will release software for multiple-CAD to/from QIF for translation and validation between users. The added capability will be part of the new release of ASFALIS software planned for early 2020.
