The Models FC-250EX and FC-700EX from Rush Machinery Inc. are designed for truing and dressing of flats, angles, and radii on diamond and CBN single wheels and multiple wheel packs. They feature PLC-controlled, automatic dressing cycles with servo-driven dressing wheel infeed, power swing and oscillation.
The machines can be fully enclosed for operator safety and dust control. Use of the Models FC-250EX and FC-700EX allows for increased efficiency and accuracy by profiling, modifying profiles and truing wheels offline of the production grinding machinery. The machines are simple to operate, quick, accurate and cost effective and feature wheel diameter capacities up to 28" (700mm).
The heavy duty one piece cast iron base provides extra rigidity and minimizes vibration. Standard features include ExVision, a computer-driven vision system with a software program specifically designed for the FC-250EX and FC-700EX and their various applications; an automatic power zoom; and a 2-axis DRO for measurement.
Related Glossary Terms
- cubic boron nitride ( CBN)
cubic boron nitride ( CBN)
Crystal manufactured from boron nitride under high pressure and temperature. Used to cut hard-to-machine ferrous and nickel-base materials up to 70 HRC. Second hardest material after diamond. See superabrasive tools.
- dressing
dressing
Removal of undesirable materials from “loaded” grinding wheels using a single- or multi-point diamond or other tool. The process also exposes unused, sharp abrasive points. See loading; truing.
- grinding
grinding
Machining operation in which material is removed from the workpiece by a powered abrasive wheel, stone, belt, paste, sheet, compound, slurry, etc. Takes various forms: surface grinding (creates flat and/or squared surfaces); cylindrical grinding (for external cylindrical and tapered shapes, fillets, undercuts, etc.); centerless grinding; chamfering; thread and form grinding; tool and cutter grinding; offhand grinding; lapping and polishing (grinding with extremely fine grits to create ultrasmooth surfaces); honing; and disc grinding.
- profiling
profiling
Machining vertical edges of workpieces having irregular contours; normally performed with an endmill in a vertical spindle on a milling machine or with a profiler, following a pattern. See mill, milling machine.
- truing
truing
Using a diamond or other dressing tool to ensure that a grinding wheel is round and concentric and will not vibrate at required speeds. Weights also are used to balance the wheel. Also performed to impart a contour to the wheel’s face. See dressing.
- vision system
vision system
System in which information is extracted from visual sensors to allow machines to react to changes in the manufacturing process.
