MachiningCloud, a product content provider for cutting tools, CNC machines and workholding, today announced a partnership with IMCO Carbide Tool Inc., enabling the precision cutting tool maker's product data to be published online.

MachiningCloud represents a new channel through which IMCO will provide its customers with digital product data they need to run today's data-hungry shop software, according to a joint news release issued by the two companies Jan. 6.

"This partnership will simplify the process of finding the right machines, cutting tools and workholding for IMCO Carbide Tool customers for their manufacturing jobs," the companies reported, noting that customers now will have instant access to current tooling data—"without the hassle of searching through printed catalogs and multiple websites to find ideal tooling."

IMCO customers reportedly will be able to increase productivity and achieve greater accuracy by downloading descriptive, usage and geometric information directly into their shop floor software. Typically such data is manually typed into the customer's shop floor software systems.

"MachiningCloud's ability to feed IMCO product data directly into their customers' shop software offers a tremendous benefit over paper catalogs and websites that currently offer this type of data," said Pierre-Francois Tavard, a cloud evangelist for MachiningCloud. "By utilizing cloud technology and industry standards, including ISO13399, STEP, GTC and MTConnect, the MachiningCloud is capable of serving up-to-date product data to virtually any shop floor software or system."

Added Perry Osburn, president of IMCO Carbide Tool: "We want to help our customers achieve their highest level of productivity utilizing the latest technologies through tool design and cost savings from effective programming. Utilizing MachiningCloud will help us along this mission by getting the necessary information directly into the customer's software to reduce design time and increase accuracy for maximum efficiency."
