Single Source Technologies (SST), a North American distributor of machinery brands based in Auburn Hills, Mich., recently announced the acquistion of Automation Solutions Inc. (ASI), effective as of Jan. 18, according to a Feb. 9 SST news release.

ASI was founded in 1992 as a full-service machine tool distributor for Eastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland, Washington, D.C., and Long Island, N.Y. Following the acquisition, SST reported that ASI customers will receive the same level of exceptional service with the added benefit of a direct relationship with Makino and SST’s local engineering support groups.

SST is a wholly owned subsidiary of Mason, Ohio-based Makino Inc., a manufacturer of advanced machining centers and EDMs.

"This acquisition supports our efforts to expand our distribution network and support customers in the Mid-Atlantic region of the U.S.," said SST Sales Manager Ron Ehrmann. "We are committed to building a strong partnership with our customers by providing the best metal cutting technology solution, tooling and EDM consumables, and the unwavering support and the engineering services you need to grow and thrive."

SST Mid-Atlantic will occupy the main office and showroom facility in West Chester, Penn., and will continue to operate from the Pine Brook, N.J., facility. The SST EDM machine and consumables activity in New England is expected to continue as is.
