CJT Koolcarb Inc.As we celebrate our 50th year in business, we thought it worthwhile to share our thoughts on the past half century and our future.

Who would have predicted that in 1969 armed with little more than an idea Charles J. Trost set out to design and build a carbide tipped and solid carbide coolant fed drill to run faster vs. a gun drill and is still a very effective tool in the industry today, CJT it was small in the beginning but grew through the years to become a recognized name in the cutting tool industry, manufacturing Straight and Spiral fluted coolant and non-coolant fed drills designed for high production applications both in standard and special built to part or tool print, Drills, Reamers and End mills.

As we celebrate, we say “Thank You” to all of our customers and co-workers, both past and present, this milestone also provides us an opportunity to look forward to our future.

Today we employ proudly employ 120 people in various facets of our business throughout the Continent, including our main plant in Carol Stream, IL. where we manufacture solid carbide and carbide tipped tools, GenHam Diamond Tooling plant in Montrose, CO. where we manufacture PCD Tipped tools.

Some would say our survival is a tribute to our hard work and quality products that CJT has designed and built. We like to think that our 50 years of success can be attributed to commitment to our core values: our commitment to our employees and their families, our service commitment to our distributors and our customers, dedication, and a willingness to help our customers benefit in increased production.

However, now is not the time to rest. We remain mindful that the industry is ever-changing, and if anything. We must continue to work on new innovative designs, tool engineering challenges and opportunities that are brought our way.

In summary, while we have come a long way, our work is not done!

Building upon our industry leadership and expertise requires further dedication, commitment to customers, innovation, and execution of top priorities.

Despite the many future changes we will undoubtedly make, it is this passion, and our relationships with you, our customers, which will remain the foundation.

For this we thank you, and look forward to your continued support.

Related Glossary Terms

  • coolant

    coolant

Fluid that reduces temperature buildup at the tool/workpiece interface during machining. Normally takes the form of a liquid such as soluble or chemical mixtures (semisynthetic, synthetic) but can be pressurized air or other gas. Because of water’s ability to absorb great quantities of heat, it is widely used as a coolant and vehicle for various cutting compounds, with the water-to-compound ratio varying with the machining task. See cutting fluid; semisynthetic cutting fluid; soluble-oil cutting fluid; synthetic cutting fluid.

  • polycrystalline diamond ( PCD)

    polycrystalline diamond ( PCD)

Cutting tool material consisting of natural or synthetic diamond crystals bonded together under high pressure at elevated temperatures. PCD is available as a tip brazed to a carbide insert carrier. Used for machining nonferrous alloys and nonmetallic materials at high cutting speeds.
