With the new Helicheck 3D machine, Walter, a member of the United Grinding Group, introduces a CNC measuring machine for the complete digitization of tools and production parts, resulting in a 3D model that can be saved, processed, analyzed and measured.
With a new method, tools can be scanned and digitized quickly and easily, according to the company. Vertical, horizontal and freely selectable cutting planes at any position can be laid on the 3D model with the 3D Tool Analyzer software developed for this application. These are then automatically analyzed and the corresponding parameters are available for the user. Because measurements are carried out on the virtual model, this can also be done offline on a separate workstation.
To complement the Helicheck 3D machine, Walter also introduced a new software 3D matcher, which makes it possible to perform a color-coded comparison of two 3D models within the proven graphical user interface. After the "match" of both models, the operator gets an instant evaluation of the quality of the products and any deviations from the desired values.
Microprocessor-based controller dedicated to a machine tool that permits the creation or modification of parts. Programmed numerical control activates the machine’s servos and spindle drives and controls the various machining operations. See DNC, direct numerical control; NC, numerical control.
Machining operation in which material is removed from the workpiece by a powered abrasive wheel, stone, belt, paste, sheet, compound, slurry, etc. Takes various forms: surface grinding (creates flat and/or squared surfaces); cylindrical grinding (for external cylindrical and tapered shapes, fillets, undercuts, etc.); centerless grinding; chamfering; thread and form grinding; tool and cutter grinding; offhand grinding; lapping and polishing (grinding with extremely fine grits to create ultrasmooth surfaces); honing; and disc grinding.
