Shaft Collars Now Available in Inch-Sizes

UK components and standard parts supplier, WDS Components Ltd, has released a range of shaft collars in inch-sizes. Aimed primarily at the American market, the range extends in several sizes from inside diameters of 1/4” up to 1”. The shaft collars are available in stainless steel, as well as cost effective and durable zinc-plated steel.

Also known as set collars, shaft collars are used to clamp and position components to a shaft, such as tools, fittings, or machinery and transmission including bearings, gearboxes and motors. WDS’ new inch-size shaft-collars are based on the company’s original metric design but with dimensions to suit OEMs and end users based in North America, as well as machine builders shipping to the North American market.

Six sizes of both the zinc-plated steel and stainless steel version are available, including 1/4”, 3/8”, 1/2”, 5/8”, 3/4” and 1”. Collar depths range from 9/32” up to 5/8” and the locking screw is manufactured to ISO 3027 (DIN 914) standards.

The inch-size shaft collars are available in a standard style featuring a grub screw that is tightened directly onto the shaft, securing the collar in place. Sliding the collar around the shaft, it can be fitted with free movement and locked into place by tightening the screw.
