BIG KAISER presents the Torque Fit, a tightening fixture for collet chucks with an integrated torque measuring system. This device makes it easy to ensure that a collet chuck is correctly tightened.
Proper tightening is an important first step of high-precision cutting. BIG KAISER's Torque Fit notifies the user of a correctly set torque value via an audible buzzer. If overtightening occurs, the error LED light will flash.
The Torque Fit was developed to replace multiple torque wrenches and has adapters available for all common machine tool interfaces such as CAT, BT, SK, HSK and BIG CAPTO, making it an economical investment. For maximum convenience, torque values for all BIG KAISER-made collet chucks are preset. The operator can, however, use a generic setting to tighten any collet chuck with a torque value up to 80 Nm (60 ft-lbs.).
Related Glossary Terms
- chuck
chuck
Workholding device that affixes to a mill, lathe or drill-press spindle. It holds a tool or workpiece by one end, allowing it to be rotated. May also be fitted to the machine table to hold a workpiece. Two or more adjustable jaws actually hold the tool or part. May be actuated manually, pneumatically, hydraulically or electrically. See collet.
- collet
collet
Flexible-sided device that secures a tool or workpiece. Similar in function to a chuck, but can accommodate only a narrow size range. Typically provides greater gripping force and precision than a chuck. See chuck.
- fixture
fixture
Device, often made in-house, that holds a specific workpiece. See jig; modular fixturing.
- flash
flash
Thin web or film of metal on a casting that occurs at die partings and around air vents and movable cores. This excess metal is due to necessary working and operating clearances in a die. Flash also is the excess material squeezed out of the cavity as a compression mold closes or as pressure is applied to the cavity.
