Aluminum F357
The foundry-grade aluminum alloy, suitable for the laser powder-bed fusion (LPBF) process, enables 3D printing of parts that have traditionally been manufactured using casting practices. There are other Aluminum alloys that are more commonly used in metal additive manufacturing, such as AlSi10Mg, but Aluminum F357 can be anodized and shares characteristics with A356, a widely used casting alloy.n
ESPRIT Additive
ESPRIT Additive for Powder Bed Fusion is compatible with any file supported by SolidWorks. One standout feature of the new software is the patented Part-to-Build When preparing a part for manufacturing, the program automatically assigns exposure strategies based on simple inputs from the user.
Solid Carbide Gundrills
Small diameter gundrills have resulted in cost savings. This was driven from tool life and throughput improvements, including several case studies that were done that resulted in doubling production capability
Need for personal protective equipment launches nonprofit manufacturing firm
[Waterbury, CT – April 29, 2020] Design Engineer Glen Dobbs has talent, curiosity, resourcefulness and – perhaps the most important attribute of all – a big heart. He is president and CEO of LoganTech, a manufacturer of several lines of communications devices for nonverbal and visually impaired individuals. In his spare time, he's been crystallizing the idea of establishing a separate nonprofit entity called Human Solutions Tech LLC to broaden the scope of the work to include other devices to fill unmet, specific needs. Two months ago, he thought that the COVID-19 crisis would halt the work he'd been putting in to the new organization, but the crisis didn't. It accelerated that work.
Layoffs, social distancing may drive machine shops to automate labor-intensive finishing operations
Whether driven by the reduction of in-shop personnel due to layoffs or to maintain social distancing guidelines into the future, many machine shops likely will be reevaluating ways to eliminate labor-intensive manual operations if they can be automated instead.

How to safeguard your CNC future and overcome the crisis
Due to the current crisis, the existence of many CNC companies is at stake. The COVID-19 outbreak has highlighted the vulnerability of complex global manufacturing supply chains. To make matters worse, the CNC industry relies heavily on on-time deliveries. Delivery delays of just one day can create gaps in the entire supply chain, which can lead to exploding costs, enormous sales losses or even a complete standstill.

We Are Proud to Announce that KItagawa NorthTech has Acquired Tecnaras' Principle Product Lines Through Strategic Acquisition
335.18 and 335.19 Cutters
Designed for slotting operations between 4-12 mm and cutting-off operations from 4-8 mm, the 335.18 and 335.19 cutters are available in metric diameters ranging from 32 mm to 125 mm. Inch diameters range from 1.25" to 4" with widths from 0.156" to 0.50". Inserts for these cutters are available with the full range of grades, edge geometries and corner radii (0.2-6.0 mm, 0.008"-0.236"). For the greatest flexibility and ease of use, as well as superior radial and axial reach, the 335.18 and 335.19 cutters utilize modular Combimaster connections.

LaserSmart 510
Rollomatic has developed a process that allows sharpening of thick‐film diamond coated cutting tools. The Rollomatic CNC La‐ ser Cutting Machine LaserSmart incorporates technologies that facilitate the probing the surface of the coated cutting edge to detect the exact shape and position. Then the laser cutting process will remove just enough diamond coating to make the cut‐ ting edge sharp. Only a predetermined amount of the coating, just around the cutting edge, is removed by the laser process.n
DeHoff 3060 Single-Axis Boring Machine
The DeHoff 3060 has a single spindle with a maximum boring capacity of 3 inches (76.2 mm) and a maximum boring depth of 60 inches (1524 mm). To meet the rigorous material removal requirements, the cutting tool is powered by a 40 horsepower spindle motor with a 4-speed gearbox. A totally custom workpiece loading and fixturing system was designed specifically for the customer's unique part. The machine features Beckhoff CNC controls with G-Code programming capability.n
