Custom tooling solution solves legacy part challenges
Tri-Tec Manufacturing designs and builds remote actuation assemblies such as vent valves and actuators, used aboard U.S. Navy ships. The parts are often installed in critical safety systems like flood boundaries and must withstand demanding conditions. These ships typically stay in service for decades, which, due to their longevity, can create challenges for the Kent, Washington-based manufacturer when they service these legacy parts.
Davi Inc. angle/plate rolling machines testimonial
Clayton Industries’ uses angle and plate rolling machines from Davi Inc. to overcome reliability and support issues when rolling sheet metal.
Centering vise system
The Emuge EvoGrip from Emuge-Franken USA is a modular workholding solution that includes its first standard high-performance centering vise system. The company says the EcoGrip is designed to deliver maximum clamping force and full 5-Axis access in a compact solution setup making it ideal for aggressive milling operations. Three basic vise widths include 70 mm, 100 mm, and 120mm, and EvoGrip offers 25kN, 50kN and an exceptionally high 75kN clamping force.
Coolant tubes and wrenches for HSK tool holders
A new line of coolant tubes and wrenches from T.J. Davies Co., Inc. has been specifically designed for HSK tool holders. The products are made of 8620 alloy steel, ensuring a long service life. Each component is machined in-house and equipped with two identical seals that allow for slight angular movement.
Video: Universal Robots unveils new long Cobot at Fabtech
UR8 Long's extended reach, combined with coordinated multi-axis motion, allows for complex weldments at consistent quality. Motion performance optimization also delivers smoother movements at maximum speed to significantly enhance fast-paced bin picking.
Redesigned cutter line for superalloy machining
Ceratizit USA Inc. says it redesigned its MonsterMill – ISO-S line of milling cutters to provide manufacturers efficient cutting, long tool life, and excellent surface finishes when milling nickel- and titanium-based alloys. In addition to its 4- and 5-flute cutters, the MonsterMill – ISO-S line now includes a 6-flute cutter for superior surface finishes that reduce secondary operations.
Jaw nuts slash jaw change time
Fast-Trac Jaw Nuts from Dillon Manufacturing allow user to preassemble the jaws required for the next operation while the machine is running the current job, cutting jaw change time in half.
Davi strengthens sales and support in the Mid-Atlantic region
Davi. Inc., a manufacturer in plate and angle roll machines, has announced the expansion of its long-time partner, Capital Machine Technologies, into the Mid-Atlantic region of the United States. This expansion will strengthen Davi Inc.'s sales, service and support to customers in this key growth area.
Tungaloy expands PVD Grade for broader milling spplications
The AH3225 PVD-coated grade tooling from Tungaloy Corporation is now available across a wider range of milling tools including high-feed cutters (MillQuadFeed), face milling cutters (DoOcto), shoulder milling cutters (TungTriShred), and ISO insert geometries such as SDKN42 and TEEN32.
June 2025 US cutting tool orders drop to $204.1M
Shipments of cutting tools totaled $204.1 million in June 2025, declining 1.8% from May 2025 and 3.9% from June 2024. Year-to-date shipments totaled $1.23 billion, a drop of 4.9% from the same period in 2024.
5-axis mill-turn universal machining center
Grob Systems Inc. says its G550T 5-axis mill-turn universal machining center provides the greatest possible positioning flexibility due to the axes' large swivel range (230ﹾ in the A'-axis and 360ﹾ in the B'-axis). A horizontal spindle position permits the longest possible Z-travel path and optimum chip fall, the company adds.
New CAMFIX and Square Turning Holders with Indexable Cartridges
Preventing tool breakage during machining is a significant challenge, leading to tool holder failures and costly replacements. Iscar's CER-M-TURN system addresses this by allowing the replacement of only the affected cartridge when an insert breaks, rather than the entire tool holder. This cost-effective solution ensures compatibility with various cartridges.nnThe system features four coolant inlets: two on the upper jaw and two on the lower jaw, directing coolant precisely to the cutting edge. An enhanced clamping mechanism also helps prevent the rotation or breakage of brittle ceramic, CBN, or PCD inserts, ensuring optimal performance and longevity.
