Grooving Tools

The SIGC series has been expanded to include Kyocera’s unique “Excellent Bar” steel shank and carbide shank toolholder styles. Kyocera is also offering the SIGC in left-handed toolholder and insert styles to cover a wider variety of internal grooving applications. 

The G4014-P groove turning holder makes it possible to change inserts in the machine – even where space is limited—in particular on long center lathes and multi-spindle machines. As a result, changing inserts is approximately 70% faster.

Designed for the internal grooving of bores with diameters as small as 8.0 mm (.315″) up to 24.0 mm (.945″), while promising reliable chip evacuation. The shanks are made of either steel for economy or tungsten carbide for long reach areas where tool steadiness is vital. Virtually eliminate chip nests, reducing part scraps and machine downtimes, while improving machining efficiency.

Tungaloy expands its TungCut series of grooving tools to include a parting blade CGP32-CHP with the ability to internally supply high-pressure coolant.

Designed to ensure low cutting force, the TCL18-style chipbreaker is the latest addition to Tungaloy’s TetraMini-Cut line of grooving inserts offering four cutting edges. TetraMini-Cut features a compact grooving insert with economical four cutting edges.

Walter has added Walter Capto toolholders and insert widths to its Walter Cut MX grooving system. Capto toolholders feature enhanced rigidity and modularity, while the tapered polygonal shape handles both torsional and bending forces with ease. This interface can be used for lathes and turn/mill centers.

Tungaloy is expanding its TungCut series of grooving tools to include new insert and holder options. TungCut’s DTE grooving insert offers a versatile design that allows the insert to be used for grooving and turning in both axial and radial directions.

The Dormer Pramet parting-off and grooving assortment as grown with the additions of a new insert, two new geometries, a grade, blades and tool holder. The new 0.98" GL double-edged insert is available in a variety of widths from 0.08" to 0.236". Targeting long-grooving applications, GL supports 60% capacity over the existing LCMF16 insert.

Walter has added PCD grooving inserts to its Walter Cut GX grooving system, the innovative tool technology for grooving and parting off. These new geometries, straight edge (F1) and full radius (M1) excel at grooving in aluminum and titanium alloys, bringing high cutting speed, longer tool life and fine surface quality to grooving, parting and recessing operations.

Kyocera Precision Tools introduces the new SIGC small internal grooving tool. The SIGC toolholder has a newly developed clamping system providing a firm insert hold made for the most efficient high-precision machining.
