Inserts

UNJ and MJ Thread Profiles

With the introduction of 13 new full-profile threading inserts, Seco Tools now offers a full range of UNJ and MJ thread profiles for both external and internal applications. Shops that need to generate high-precision threads in stainless steels and heat-resistant nickel-based and titanium alloys will benefit from the extremely tight-tolerance profiles of these inserts.

T9225 Insert Grade

Tungaloy’s new T9225 insert grade is joining the earlier successes of T9125 to complement the T9200 CVD grade series for steel turning. T9225 brings an exceptional combination of unparalleled wear resistance and top-notch edge toughness of all P25 grades available on the market to every steel turning application.

CH3515 and CBN150 Insert Grades

To eliminate the difficulties of hard turning operations, Seco Tools has added a new grade format and several new geometries to its already expansive line of PCBN inserts. These additions broaden the extremely tough Seco CH3515 insert grade and introduce a new solid CBN150 insert grade, special long and short wiper geometries and laser-etched chipbreakers.

WMP45G Grade Indexable Insert

Walter has expanded its Tiger·tec Gold line of indexable inserts with the addition of the WMP45G grade made specifically to handle the challenges of turbine blade machining. The new WMP45G grade, available as round indexable inserts for the F2334R copy milling cutter, is for facemilling and copy milling of martensitic and austenitic stainless steels.

Large LP09 Inserts for HighFeed 2 Cutter Bodies

To eliminate long face milling cycle times and ensure process security, Seco Tools has introduced new larger LP09 inserts for the company's HighFeed 2 cutter bodies. The new inserts are designed for high-feed milling operations including face, helical interpolation, slotting, side milling, pocketing and plunging, in challenging workpieces often found in the mold and die, aerospace, and oil and gas industries.

Hard part turning with CB7105 and CB7115

Hard part turning is usually a finishing or semi-finishing process with high dimensional accuracy and surface quality requirements.

Sandvik Coromant's new grades CB7105 and CB7115 break new ground in hard part turning. The new grades are based on the newest generation Cubic Boron Nitride (CBN) material. This material enhances crater wear resistance and fracture resistance at high cutting speeds in case hardened and induction hardened material.

BIDEMICS all the buzz at NTK Cutting Tools

During a brief interview at IMTS 2018, Steve Howard, marketing and engineering manager for NTK Cutting Tools, discussed the significance of the company's patented BIDEMICS material, calling it "the first real improvement in ceramics in 20 or 30 years."

Chatting with Cutting Tool Engineering Publisher Dennis Spaeth, Howard said BIDEMICS makes it possible to increase cutting speeds in heat-resistant alloys by 17 times over carbide. The new composite material reportedly is capable of running at 1,600 sfm to 1,700 sfm.
