Machining (CNC)

The milling machines produce more parts, faster and with better tolerances than standard manual machines. In addition, they are simple to set up and operate. Another key feature is the Fagor Automatic controls that offer the most cost-effective solution in chip making profitability. This combination ensures faster programming, set-up and machining.

The two new machines, models MTV 1000 and MTV 1250 offering 8,000 rpm/700 ft lbs. of torque and 4,500 rpm/1,200 ft lbs. plus 200 bar/3,000 psi high pressure coolant for integrated turning, are joining the STC-MTV family of horizontal machining centers.

The capability to keep eighty tools resident with high horsepower motors means heavy metal removal and flexibility. B-axis surfacing with up to 135 travel handles up to ½” diameter tooling.  Software technologies increase effectiveness including Star CNC’s HFT (High Frequency Turning) software handle chip control in tough materials, Star CNC Motion Control System optimizes your program to reduce cycle time, and the Star Monitoring and Operator Support System (SMOOSS-i) allows remote monitoring with real-time efficiency reporting and operator intervention predictability.

The synchronized project data includes the part and stock models, workholding, tooling, work offsets, tool offsets, and G-code program. With the synchronization between ESPRIT CAM and Mazak Smooth Ai, users can now preview the entire machining process virtually on the CNC, using the ESPRIT digital twin, before executing the program on the CNC machine. As a result, manual data input is eliminated, and the machine operator is offered greater assurance of the machining process. This results in shorter setup and prove-out times, and higher quality first-article run-offs.

The reCool ERAX uses the patented reCool design to deliver coolant with a maximum pressure of 1,450 psi in live tooling applications with speeds up to 12,000 rpm. Equally well suited for emulsion and oil coolants, the system is currently available for ER collet sizes 16, 20, 25 and 32 to handle tools between 3-20 mm in diameter. Both through-tool coolant and peripheral cooling are possible using REGO-FIX DS/ER sealing disks and KS/ER coolant flush disks, respectively.

NUM has now added non-circular grinding functionality to its NUMgrind cylindrical grinding software, which forms an application-specific element of the company’s renowned Flexium+ CNC platform. It is fully compatible with other Flexium software, from release 4.1.20.00 onwards.

ESPRIT’s additive capabilities are the product of the team’s more than 35 years of experience in toolpath generations, and they include the same intuitive user interface that users expect from the software. The product release includes 3-axis, 4-axis, and 5-axis DED support. Combined with the subtractive processes and embedded into a single software, DP Technology brings a full spectrum of support to hybrid manufacturing.

Using the combination of ESPRIT probing and CNC machines outfitted with touch probes, shops will enjoy increased throughput on existing equipment while reducing operator intervention. This benefit comes along with increases in part consistency and quality.
