Machining (CNC)

3D-Printed Stator Bore Tool

Kennametal has developed a 3D-printed stator bore tool to meet growing customer demand for lighter weight tooling solutions used to machine components for hybrid and electric vehicles. E-mobility components are typically machined on small, low-horsepower CNC machining centers that require lighter weight tooling solutions. Kennametal’s 3D printed stator bore tool weighs half that of the conventionally manufactured version, while still meeting accuracy, roundness and surface finish requirements for aluminum motor body boring.

UR16e Collaborative Robot

Universal Robots announces the immediate availability of the UR16e, which boasts a 16 kg (35 lbs.) payload capability. The new UR16e combines the high payload with a reach of 900 mm and pose repeatability of +/- 0.05 mm, making it suitable for automating tasks such as heavy-duty material handling, heavy-part handling, palletizing and machine tending. With UR16e, Universal Robots is introducing the highest payload and best pose repeatability in this reach class.

Heavy-Duty Toolholder

THINBIT, manufactured by Kaiser Tool Co. Inc., introduces a new toolholder option that takes advantage of the full line of inserts for grooving, threading, face grooving and custom applications. The heavy-duty round reversible toolholder presets an insert parallel to the centerline of the shank and can be used as either right or left hand.

Feed Slide Program

Suhner has redesigned the entire precision slide program with an emphasis on product performance and cost benefits to the customer. Once again, Suhner delivered on this promise with a number of design improvements such as rigidity and compact design, including a variety of optional slide assembly features and accessories.

CAMWorks ShopFloor Software

HCL Technologies announced the release of CAMWorks ShopFloor, which provides tools for companies to meet smart manufacturing and Industry 4.0 initiatives, by moving beyond 2D drawings or static digital files. With CAMWorks ShopFloor, 3D digital models capture extensive data from the part design files and provide tools that machinists can utilize to produce parts with fewer miscommunications between the design and manufacturing departments.

GH-45 Hydraulic Tapping Arm

FlexArm Inc. introduces the GH-45 hydraulic tapping arm with capacity to 1 1/2 inches in mild steel, allowing operators to quickly and consistently tap holes offline for greater overall productivity. This versatile, robust design has a reach from 20" to 78” and operates at variable speed from 110 to 500 rpm to deliver torque up to 325 ft./lbs.
