A part of Mazak’s family of Hybrid multitask machining centers, the VTC-300C FSW combines milling capabilities with those of friction stir welding (FSW). With a full traveling-column design, automatic toolchanger and 40-taper spindle in addition to the FSW package, this machine helps shops achieve reduced lead times and greater part accuracy with less required capital equipment and floor space – all while enabling completely novel methods for processing parts with strong welds.

In a collaborative effort to best enable 5-axis machining for users with Heidenhain TNC controls and Mastercam CAD/CAM software, a new collaborate post-processor is now available.Called the Heidenhain TNC 5X Mill post-processor, CNC Software Inc., developers of Mastercam software, introduced it after coordinating development efforts between the two companies. Mitutoyo America Corp. announces the release of the MiSTAR 555 CNC shop floor coordinate measuring machine to its CMM product line that operates without compressed air and on conventional 120V 20 AMP electrical service with movement speeds of 606mm/s and acceleration of 2,695mm/s² (3D).

Beaumont Machine has updated its EDM line with a new machine, the S-EW3. This 5-axis servomotor EDM combines several key features for only $69,900. These include compact space, approach control, corner control, auto threader and training software.
