Siemens introduces Manage MyMachines, one of the MindApps within the rapidly emerging Mindsphere concept. This cloud-based “platform as a service” enables the full data tracking of machine kinematics, as well as production data, and Manage MyMachines serves as the initial point of entry into this digital world, combined with edge technology.

Coating, adhesive bonding, sealing, painting – these are just some manufacturing operations calling for profoundly clean, and sometimes activated, part surfaces. It is with these requirements in mind that Ecoclean has developed a set of new cleaning solutions. One of them combines wet chemical and low-pressure plasma cleaning in a single machine. Another innovation consists in integrating diverse applications for partial or full-surface cleaning or activation – e.g., atmospheric pressure plasma treatment, laser, CO2 snow blasting and/or surface inspection operations – into one processing system. This toolkit enables operators to cover virtually all pre-treatment needs.

The Model 300 mist collector filters the air on enclosed machinery to remove harmful oil mist and particulates from CNC machines, including milling and grinding processes. This unit offers a primary control solution by mounting to the machinery and filtering the mist at the source.

Mahr Inc. announced the addition of the MarSurf GD series for roughness measurements to its new line of surface measuring instruments. MarSurf GD series measuring stations provide high levels of speed, flexibility and intelligent ease of use, allowing users to improve the manufacturing quality of workpieces with faster throughput and higher accuracy for the broadest range of applications. Developed from the ground up, the new MarSurf GD series enable profile and waviness evaluations to be carried out in addition to surface roughness evaluations.

Scientific Cutting Tools Inc. announces a new line of high-performance helical chamfer mills. The helical cutters are significantly freer cutting and impart a smoother finish than the standard straight-flute alternatives. The variable-helical flute design provides high sheer, reduced side cutting pressure and improved chip evacuation, thus achieving extremely high performance.

The Hurco MAX5 control is now even more powerful with the new 3D Import feature that includes 3D DXF technology. This control feature allows the user to simply load the file they receive from their customer directly into the Hurco control.

ARNO Werkzeuge offers its new AWL direct mount for Star Swiss-type machines. The toolholder system for turning or grooving tools (patent pending) has an integrated adjustable high-pressure coolant supply of up to 130 bar. When combined with the AFC quick-change system, users can increase productivity for Swiss-type machines because the system significantly cuts setup and non-productive times.

The Takumi H12 CNC double-column machining center, designed for parts that require outstanding speed and accuracy, and unparalleled surface finish, delivers world-class performance for die/mold, aerospace and other high speed applications. The ladder structure and double-column design provide extreme rigidity and outstanding support to the head casting.

FlexCNC introduces G-Series vertical machining centers for facemilling, helical milling, rough milling and drilling of large or long parts in a single setup. The standard edition Model 20-06 SE boasts a 20-foot by 6-foot bed to machine parts up to 20-feet in length.

Thread milling is a versatile, cost-effective process for cutting a variety of threads, parts and workpiece materials on the same machine. This process produces an internal or an external thread by doing a helical interpolation on a CNC machine, which can make helical paths.
