The all gear drive transmission on the 17-inch gear head milling machine from Palmgren delivers full power at any speed producing a cutting speed at nearly 100 percent horsepower and torque.

To eliminate long face milling cycle times and ensure process security, Seco Tools has introduced new larger LP09 inserts for the company's HighFeed 2 cutter bodies. The new inserts are designed for high-feed milling operations including face, helical interpolation, slotting, side milling, pocketing and plunging, in challenging workpieces often found in the mold and die, aerospace, and oil and gas industries.

Responding to the increase in hybrid manufacturing, the latest release of Surfcam introduces a new Additive Machining module. Supporting the Direct Energy Deposition method, Surfcam now offers a dedicated manufacturing cycle which accurately guides a laser as it deposits material to form a shape. After that, the shape is machined using Surfcam’s milling cycles to create the final component.

The new EDGE2 DSS system from DAPRA Corp. was engineered to deliver both premium 90° milling performance and indexable milling value. Double-sided DSS inserts provide four usable cutting edges to significantly lower cost-per-edge versus single-sided inserts, and DAPRA’s permanent automatic cutter replacement program makes it easier for shops to keep good-condition tools in use rather than making do with worn-out cutters.

The inch version of the popular Helical AD for roughing applications is now available. Offering a DOC up to 3.150”, the cutters are suitable for use with the Pramet range of versatile ADMX 16 inserts and support medium machining of most engineering materials, including cast iron, stainless steel, aluminum alloys and superalloys.

Cutting tool and tooling systems specialist Sandvik Coromant is launching GC4330 and GC4340, two new insert grades for steel milling. With the development of advanced production technologies, such as a new substrate, Inveio coating and an improved post-treatment technology, the new grades provide great opportunities to substantially increase tool life and process security compared to the previous generation of grades, GC4230 and GC4240, which will now be superseded.
