Turning

HQR 200/3 and HQR 250/3

Both machines have two spindles and three turrets – two upper and one lower – for unequaled DONE IN ONEÆ part processing opportunities and high-volume throughput in single setups. The drum-style turrets provide 12 or 16 tool positions and rotary tool capability. Main machine spindles handle 4” bar stock while the second spindle is capable of processing bar diameters up to 2.992” (76 mm). The machine easily integrates with available bar feeders and workpiece loaders/unloaders for fully automated operations.

8 x 12-inch Bench Lathe

The bench lathe meets the requirements of prototype shops, home machinists, jewelry manufacturing, tool rooms  and fabrication and maintenance shops which need to turn small metal parts. Standard on the bench lathe are: 3-jaw lathe chuck, safety chuck and tool post guards, 4-way tool post, centers, chip tray and precision thrust and ball bearings in the head stock.

Revolutionize Machining: Tungaloy's TurnFeed for Super High-Feed Turning

Experience maximum productivity and turning efficiency with Tungaloy’s TurnFeed on steel. Engineered with a unique cutting edge for high-feed machining, this tool boasts double clamping technology for unparalleled rigidity and performance. The WPMT-ML Trigon insert with ML chipbreaker minimizes cutting force, while producing thin, manageable chips. Perfect for a broad range of applications, from roughing to finishing, thanks to its high versatility and resistance to wear and chipping. Transform your machining process today.

SG66 Grade

The carbide grade SG66 is available for all common Horn insert systems. The in-house coating also enables a short delivery time for special tools. SG66 cannot replace the CBN grade. Horn has, however, filled the gap for particularly difficult groove turning applications. In comparison, the CBN grade achieves twice the cutting speed and more when machining through-hardened materials.

Grades GC1205 and 1210

Typical aero-engine components that the grades can machine are gas turbine discs, casings, blisks, spools, shafts and blades. But these grades also prove to be a great choice in demanding applications such as power generation turbines and medical implants made of cobalt-chrome

QC10 Series

The QC10 series offers an extensive selection of modular heads for applications including forward turning, back turning, grooving, parting, and thread turning. All modular heads have an internal coolant channel designed to deliver high pressure coolant precisely where it is needed, close to the cutting point. This improves chip control and also extends tool life.

Ask CTE Contributors about rough turning steel

Martin Dillaman, global manager of engineering/applications for Greenleaf Corp., recaps and takes questions regarding "Making the Grade," a feature article published in the April 2023 issue of Cutting Tool Engineering magazine that discusses how the use of the right carbide inserts helps overcome any issues that might arise when rough turning steel. In addition, RoboVent Senior Application Engineer Mike Meyer discusses and takes questions about "Air Quality Issues for Turning," which CTE published as a sidebar to "Making the Grade."
