J.A.M. Taylor Tool Co. Ltd.Established in 1918, J.A.M. Taylor Tool Co. Ltd., Cambridge, Ontario, is a family-owned, fourth generation Canadian manufacturing company specializing in cutting tools comprising taps, reamers and dies.

“Today, we celebrate the evolution of J.A.M. Taylor Tool as we enter our second century,” commented Todd Hinde, a fourth generation family member carrying on the family tradition in tooling.

In step with the machining industry, Taylor Tool offers bar stock special tooling made to blueprints and customer specifications. Over 100 years, Taylor Tool’s reputation for specialty tooling expanded to all of Canada, the U.S. and Europe, with many products being sold worldwide by distributors. The story began in January 1918. John Alexander MacDonald resigned from Canadian Fairbanks Morse in Toronto, a cutting tool distribution company, and founded J.A.M. Taylor Tool Co. in Toronto. The firm began distributing cutting tools as agents for British and American tool companies. Over the next four decades, Taylor Tool advanced from distribution to specialized manufacturing of taps, reamers and dies at its present location in Cambridge.

“Our customer-first approach is why we carry such an extensive inventory of cutting tools ready for immediate shipment through our distribution channels. To further support our distribution partners, we also offer 24-48-hour service on special taps and a new custom material-specific high-performance tap design/delivery service. Customized manufacturing in a matter of days is also part of the new century of overall customer satisfaction that is at the core of our commitment to the global manufacturing marketplace,” Hinde offered.
