Federico Costa, managing director of Febametal S.p.A. from Turin, Italy, was elected president of the European Cutting Tools Association (ECTA).
Costa, who was elected on November 13, 2023, will serve as president for the coming four years.
Costa said tthat European tool manufacturers are currently operating in a context affected by international geopolitical uncertainty. This is added to the complexity introduced by the new regulatory requirements imposed by the European Union, which is certainly a challenge for our companies.
The commitment of ECTA for the coming years will thus be to provide companies with food for thought and insight, as well as opportunities for exchanging views, to better move forward in this scenario. The annual events and meetings, which traditionally accompany the activity of ECTA, will indeed be focused on the issues of greatest interest to the European operators in this sector.
“As president of ECTA I will contribute to sustainably strengthening the competitive position of European tool manufacturers," he said.
The Italian entrepreneur succeeds Markus Horn of Paul Horn GmbH who held the position since 2019.
The ECTA, the European Association of Cutting Tool and Clamping Technology Manufacturers, offers annual events in alternating countries.
The next two major events are the World Cutting Tool Conference 2024 (WCTC), which will take place in Osaka, Japan, from May 21-24, 2024,
The ECTA Conference 2025 (ECTC), will be organized in Italy by ECTA and the Italian association UCIMU-SISTEMI PER PRODURRE. Details of the event were not released.
