PCD Endmills, Routers, Drills and Compression Trimmers

Lovejoy Tool offers PCD cutting tools that deliver wear resistance for machining highly abrasive composite materials in ramping, trimming and contouring operations. PCD end mills, compression trimmers, routers and ball nose styles are available in standard and special forms, and with various grain sizes for machining a variety of materials including cast aluminum, copper and other nonferrous material, fiber reinforced plastics, resins or glued materials and metal matrix composites. PCD Tipped end mills diameters range from 0.250" and up, can be retipped to maintain size, resharpened for overall longer tool life and performance.

In addition, made-to-order PCD drills are available. All Lovejoy PCD tools feature sharp edge quality to minimize delamination in carbon fiber reinforced plastic applications.

Related Glossary Terms

  • abrasive

    abrasive

Substance used for grinding, honing, lapping, superfinishing and polishing. Examples include garnet, emery, corundum, silicon carbide, cubic boron nitride and diamond in various grit sizes.

  • composites

    composites

Materials composed of different elements, with one element normally embedded in another, held together by a compatible binder.

  • polycrystalline diamond ( PCD)

    polycrystalline diamond ( PCD)

Cutting tool material consisting of natural or synthetic diamond crystals bonded together under high pressure at elevated temperatures. PCD is available as a tip brazed to a carbide insert carrier. Used for machining nonferrous alloys and nonmetallic materials at high cutting speeds.

  • wear resistance

    wear resistance

Ability of the tool to withstand stresses that cause it to wear during cutting; an attribute linked to alloy composition, base material, thermal conditions, type of tooling and operation and other variables.
