Paperbed Filters

May 13, 2013

PRAB Paper bed filters extend coolant and tool life, increase surface finish an average of 27 percent, and control bacteria contamination. Standard Paper Bed filtration units handle flow rates of up to 130 gpm with different classes of filter media available to achieve specificµm clarity. Filters are suitable for applications of low to medium stock removal of ferrous and nonferrous metals, as well as organic and inorganic contaminants, such as glass, rubber, and plastic. Drum-type models occupy one third the floor space and can process up to 500 gpm of fluids.

PRAB's Magnetic Paper Bed Filter models are ideal for pre-filtering ferrous materials from industrial process liquids. The filtering surface of a magnetic paper bed filter is automatically indexed only when necessary. Standard units are available with flow rates of up to 250 gpm (946 lpm) with an automated self-cleaning system that minimizes maintenance.

    coolant

Fluid that reduces temperature buildup at the tool/workpiece interface during machining. Normally takes the form of a liquid such as soluble or chemical mixtures (semisynthetic, synthetic) but can be pressurized air or other gas. Because of water’s ability to absorb great quantities of heat, it is widely used as a coolant and vehicle for various cutting compounds, with the water-to-compound ratio varying with the machining task. See cutting fluid; semisynthetic cutting fluid; soluble-oil cutting fluid; synthetic cutting fluid.
