The EDGE X-5® 5-axis waterjet system from Jet Edge Inc., St. Michael, Minn., is designed and built for heavy duty industrial use in waterjet shops that demand lasting performance, precision and accuracy, the company announced in a Feb. 9 news release. The system reportedly cuts precise 3D parts and bevels up to 50°.
The waterjet system's sturdy design separates the motion system from the catcher tank, which is said to eliminate vibration and ensure maximum part quality. The EDGE X-5, which uses an industrial PC controller, is ball-screw driven for optimal precision, and features direct-couple AC brushless digital servo motors and single or double carriages. In addition, critical bearing components are protected with heavy metal covers with brush seals and positive air pressure.
The Jet Edge EDGE X-5 waterjet machine is available in many sizes, from 5' x 5' (1,500mm x 1,500mm) to 24' x 13' (7,300mm x 3,900mm). An optional second cutting head can be added to double productivity.
