reCool RCR/ERM Retrofittable Coolant-Through System

July 20, 2016

REGO-FIX has introduced a new addition to its line of reCool retrofittable coolant-through systems. The reCool RCR/ERM not only provides all the benefits of reCool technology to Swiss-style machines, but also allows the use of emulsion or pure oil coolants.

Like its companion system, the new reCool RCR/ERM cost-effectively converts existing flood-cooled driven tools with ERM mini threads to through-tool-coolant capable in as little as 2 minutes. The system gets coolant to the cutting edge much more effectively than do spray piping or nozzles, and thus easily removes heat from the cutting zone and contributes to better surface finishes, longer tool life, improved chip control and increased productivity, according to the company.

The reCool Mini accommodates standard speeds up to 12,000 rpm and coolant pressures up to 1,450 psi (100 bar) and 2,150 psi (150 bar) is optional.

Related Glossary Terms

  • coolant

    coolant

Fluid that reduces temperature buildup at the tool/workpiece interface during machining. Normally takes the form of a liquid such as soluble or chemical mixtures (semisynthetic, synthetic) but can be pressurized air or other gas. Because of water’s ability to absorb great quantities of heat, it is widely used as a coolant and vehicle for various cutting compounds, with the water-to-compound ratio varying with the machining task. See cutting fluid; semisynthetic cutting fluid; soluble-oil cutting fluid; synthetic cutting fluid.

  • emulsion

    emulsion

Suspension of one liquid in another, such as oil in water.
