EMAG VL 1 TWIN - Highly Productive Simultaneous Machining

Published Date
November 01, 2018 - 01:45:pm

This twin-spindle turning machine is perfect for the manufacturing of workpieces up to 3 inches in diameter. With two main spindles in one machining area, the VL 1 TWIN can simultaneously machine two identical workpieces – leading to a massive increase in output quantities and decreased cost per piece.

The diameter and length of both components can be measured and then corrected independently of one another. In addition, the machine also has a direct position measuring system and a linear motor in the X-axis to ensure the highest machining quality and maximum productivity. • linear motor

    linear motor

Functionally the same as a rotary motor in a machine tool, a linear motor can be thought of as a standard permanent-magnet, rotary-style motor slit axially to the center and then peeled back and laid flat. The major advantage of using a linear motor to drive the axis motion is that it eliminates the inefficiency and mechanical variance caused by the ballscrew assembly system used in most CNC machines.

  • turning

    turning

Workpiece is held in a chuck, mounted on a face plate or secured between centers and rotated while a cutting tool, normally a single-point tool, is fed into it along its periphery or across its end or face. Takes the form of straight turning (cutting along the periphery of the workpiece); taper turning (creating a taper); step turning (turning different-size diameters on the same work); chamfering (beveling an edge or shoulder); facing (cutting on an end); turning threads (usually external but can be internal); roughing (high-volume metal removal); and finishing (final light cuts). Performed on lathes, turning centers, chucking machines, automatic screw machines and similar machines.

  • turning machine

    turning machine

Any machine that rotates a workpiece while feeding a cutting tool into it. See lathe.
