In heavy-duty cam-driven machines, improper mounting often causes misalignment that produces thrust forces and metal contact between the bearing’s outer ring and side plate. Heavy loading also creates deflections and uneven loading at the stud. Heat resulting from metal-to-metal contact can further reduce the cam follower’s life.

The new set of packages allows manufacturers to get started with powRgrip as quickly as possible for their particular toolholding needs. Packages includes a PGC-A handpump clamping unit, five toolholders and 10 PG collets. Holders are available with CAT 40, BT 30, HSK-A63 and HSK-E40 interfaces with standard collets in PH10, PG15, and PG25 sizes. The PGC-A Special Compact Set is also available for separate purchase.

The expanded range of ANSI tap collets is fully compatible with existing powRgrip holders and only require shanks with tolerances of h9 or better. On the new GARANT VG Basic pre-setting device, both the X and Z axes can be moved by up to 400 millimeters using a pneumatic quick adjustment device. This requires a compressed air supply of at least 73 psi. When an additional fine adjustment is made, the two axes can be positioned accurately enough that the exact tool dimensions can be determined using the robust measuring system and the high-performance CMOS color camera with 17x magnification.

As opposed to measuring, printing a label and punching the data into the control, SPI prints a tool label with a QR code at the presetter that’s then read by the SPI module at the machine control. The system can also be configured to send measurements directly into the tool NC’s offset table.
