Base Mount Tooling
Heimatec announces immediate availability of BMT (Base Mount Tooling) standard products. In addition to standard X- and Z-axis tools, styles such as adjustable tools, speed increasers and internal coolant tools with capabilities to 140 bar (2,000 psi) are available in an assortment of standard BMT tooling types, including BMT 45, 55, 65 and 75.
HMC Series Horizontal Machining Centers
Fives brings the combination live spindle and integrated contouring head (ICH) to its Cincinnati MEGA and Giddings & Lewis HMC Series horizontal machining centers, for expanded processing flexibility and dramatically reduced workpiece transfers and setups, with improved accuracy. The ICH's 220-mm (8.7-in) U-axis slide stroke provides the ability to produce small- or large-diameter features without head changing or manual intervention, allowing complex features to be machined in one setup with reduced cycle time and labor.

Parting Blade Adapters

With the Walter design, the coolant flows through the adapter directly into and through the parting blade to the cutting zone.
B700 Drop Bed Machine
UNISIG engineered its new B700 Drop Bed machine to effectively generate the critical, high-precision features on large and irregularly shaped aerospace components, such as landing gear struts. Geometric Ltd. announced the addition of automated "Machine to the Mean" capabilities when working with Solidworks parts and assembly files that contain tolerance—or geometric dimensioning and tolerance (GD&T)—information. These automated mean tolerance calculation capabilities will eliminate the common practice of having to manually calculate allowances when defining CNC toolpaths or the need to rebuild 3D models to mean geometry, thus eliminating potential mistakes, while saving time and money, and streamlining the transition from design to manufacturing.
Special Dual-Contact Toolholder
Briney Tooling Systems worked closely with a manufacturer to develop a special dual-contact, CAT 50, stick turning toolholder for an Okuma MacTurn 550 mill/turn center. The customer had some special turning stick tools that were 1.5-inches square and there was no standard for the lathe stick tools.
