AMT (Aluminum Mill-Thread) Cutter
The new Carmex AMT (aluminum mill-thread) cutter delivers a fine surface finish, good chip evacuation and is constructed of solid carbide to absorb cutting forces in high-speed aluminum machining. Available in a cylindrical shank or Weldon shank, the AMT is designed to minimize the tendency of aluminum to stick to the cutting tool edges.
‘Going to New Orleans’ — for the USCTI fall meeting
There was plenty to see, eat, drink, learn and hear at the United States Cutting Tool Institute's (www.uscti.com) 2016 Fall Meeting, held Oct. 15-17 at the Omni Royal hotel in New Orleans, writes Cutting Tool Engineering Publisher Don Nelson.
Micro-Endmill Geometries
Tungsten ToolWorks offers seven micro-endmill geometries in an "infinite" variety of diameters, lengths, end conditions and coatings, including diamond, based on customer inputs. Cutting diameters as small as 0.005" (0.127mm) can be configured from an array of fractional or metric carbide blanks.
HV5HD Series Endmills
Mil-Tec Inc. says its HV5HD series endmills are ideal for machine shops and other manufacturing facilities that require flexibility and value. With a full range of cutter bodies and precision-ground carbide inserts, the tools can reportedly handle any application and material.
MITGI 2016 Standard Tool Catalog
Midwest Industrial Tool Grinding Inc. has released the newest edition of the standard tool catalog. The largest edition published by MITGI, the catalog includes more than 8,700 tools, an increase of 57 percent over the 2015 offering.
SA Series of Cutting Tools and Inserts for Grooving, Parting
Arno Werkzeuge USA announced the introduction of its SA series of cutting tools and inserts for grooving and part-off or cut-off operations for North America. The SA system from Arno USA is a modular grooving system with a single toolholder, which turns into different tool variants by simply changing the support blade and clamp.
Stabilizer 2.0 Endmills
Niagara Cutter, a subsidiary of Seco Tools LLC, launched its new Niagara Cutter Stabilizer 2.0 next-generation family of endmills. The Stabilizer 2.0 cutters incorporate patented continuous variable asymmetrical geometries and provide incredibly smooth and chatter-free performance that allows feed rates to be doubled as compared with previous models.
TRU TEMP Low-Temperature, Black-Oxide process
Gear component manufacturers can easily achieve break-in lubricity, robust corrosion protection and galling resistance on critical components. Birchwood Technologies' TRU TEMP low-temperature, black-oxide process meets demanding finishing requirements while creating a non-dimensional finish, maintaining the same material hardness and load-bearing properties.
Color Select High-Speed Inserts
Cast iron drilling has taken a significant step forward with an expanded insert range for new diameters in the high-speed Color Select P6005-WKK45C grade for Xtra·tec B401x point drills. These new inserts are available in diameters up to 1.50 in. (37.99 mm).
Klübersynth GE 4 80 W 140 Synthetic Gear Oil
Klüber Lubrication has introduced Klübersynth GE 4 80 W 140, a fully synthetic high-performance gear oil based on polyalphaolefin (PAO) that offers high stability and protection even under shock loads. With Klübersynth GE 4 80 W 140, Klüber Lubrication complements its range of efficient high-performance oils for railway gears.
Nmark GCL Galvo Scanner Control
The Nmark GCL controls Aerotech's AGV series scanners, reportedly resulting in industry-leading settling times, long-term thermal stability and micron-level tracking accuracy due to advanced features such as full-state feed-forward, 200 kHz servo rates, and look-ahead-based velocity control. The Nmark GCL uses advanced interpolation electronics to provide up to 26-bits of effective resolution.
CA3-series CVD-coated Carbide Inserts
Kyocera's new CA3-series CVD-coated carbide inserts are for turning cast iron. The CA3-series grades with new K-series chipbreakers have become powerful contenders for gray and nodular cast iron machining applications, according to the company.
