Waterjet Shuttle Systems

June 09, 2016

Jet Edge introduces its latest generation of waterjet shuttle systems. Designed especially for high-volume water-only waterjet cutting applications, Jet Edge waterjet shuttle systems reportedly increase productivity by allowing operators to continue cutting as they unload finished parts.

Manufactured for industrial use, Jet Edge waterjet shuttles are available in a high-rail gantry format supporting up to 12 cutting heads or a mid-rail gantry format supporting up to four cutting heads. To operate the shuttle, the operator simply rolls out the top cutting table like a drawer and continues cutting on the bottom table as parts are unloaded. Powered shuttles are also available.

Jet Edge waterjet shuttle systems are available in a range of sizes; an optional spreader bar allows operators to expand the cutting area beyond the waterjet gantry for cutting large sheets. The shuttle systems feature Jet Edge’s signature Aquavision Di controller. The Aquavision Di is the most advanced motion controller in the industry. It guides the user through the process from job set-up to production. Single parts, mirroring, rotation, plate alignment and part arrays (optional) are at the operator’s fingertips. It is fully networkable.

Jet Edge precision waterjet systems lead the industry in precision and accuracy, holding +/-0.001" linear positional accuracy (over 12") per axis and +/-0.001" repeatability (bi-directional). Moving elements are supported on THK linear ways, precision ball screws are directly coupled to servomotors, and XY mechanical components are protected by a lip seal system. Critical motion components are protected with metal covers, brushes, labyrinth passages, lip seals, and high-volume low-pressure filtered air. Jet Edge offers a range of waterjet pumps, 36,000 psi, 60,000 psi and 75,000 psi models are available from 30-280 hp.

Water-only waterjets cut soft materials such as gaskets, foam, rubber, film, paper, cardboard, carpet, insulation, food and foil. Abrasive must be added to cut harder materials such as metal and stone.

    abrasive

Substance used for grinding, honing, lapping, superfinishing and polishing. Examples include garnet, emery, corundum, silicon carbide, cubic boron nitride and diamond in various grit sizes.

  • waterjet cutting

    waterjet cutting

Fine, high-pressure (up to 50,000 psi or greater), high-velocity jet of water directed by a small nozzle to cut material. Velocity of the stream can exceed twice the speed of sound. Nozzle opening ranges from between 0.004" to 0.016" (0.l0mm to 0.41mm), producing a very narrow kerf. See AWJ, abrasive waterjet.
