EcoLine Greases

Greases are a regular part of maintenance and always will be. Moving parts and high-pressure points need lubrication to reduce friction and wear for smoother operations and longer equipment life. The difference today is that maintenance crews no longer have to rely on common petroleum-based greases but can opt for biobased options with lower environmental impact and superior lubricity. Cortec’s broad selection of EcoLine greases make it easy to start the move toward greater environmentally responsible maintenance in any industry.

EcoLine greases range from NLGI grades 0 to 3. While many EcoLine names designate specific uses, the greases can typically be used across applications wherever a biobased version of a particular grade is desired. Many of Cortec’s EcoLine greases are biodegradable, low toxicity and non-bioaccumulative as required to be an environmentally acceptable lubricant (EAL) under the EPA’s VGP regulation for vessels operating in North American waters. This makes them excellent candidates for marine or outdoor applications where there would be a greater concern about contaminating the environment.

EcoLine heavy-duty grease is an all-around lubricant for any extreme pressure areas where NLGI grade 2 grease is needed, including but not limited to auto chassis, wheel bearings, gears, farm equipment, vehicle fleets and marine azimuth thruster bearings. It meets NLGI’s GC-LB specifications for fretting wear protection, oxidation and thermal stability, and resistance to rust and corrosion.

EcoLine bio-based food machinery lubricating grease #1 and #2 are designed, as their names suggest, for the food and beverage processing industries. They are NLGI grade 1 and 2 greases, respectively, and can be used wherever an H1 category lubricant is needed in food machinery (e.g., low speed bearings, oscillating machinery, gears, and machine slides). They contain 96% USDA-certified biobased content.

EcoLine drilling rod grease and EcoLine wire rope grease are excellent options for oil and gas, mining, and other industries where heavy drilling equipment or cranes and winches with lots of wire rope are common. These greases contain 83% and 82% USDA-certified biobased content, respectively, and are recommended for use in environmentally sensitive areas near waterways.

Extremely harsh environments such as those exposed to salt spray can benefit from using EcoLine biobased grease powered by NANO VpCI. This NLGI grade 3 grease provides extra corrosion protection in both the contact phase and the vapor phase (for metals in surrounding hard-to-reach cavities) and is compatible with yellow metals. It contains 86% USDA-certified biobased content.

Cortec’s EcoLine grease selection extends into rail and trucking maintenance. EcoLine rail curve grease, Winter, is a premium-quality, biobased, biodegradable grease designed to reduce friction between train wheels and curved rails. It contains 80% USDA-certified biobased content and works in temperatures between 0° to 100° F (-17° to 37° C). A summer version is available for temperatures from 35° to 160° F (2° to 71° C).

EcoLine fifth wheel grease contains 91% USDA-certified biobased content and, as its name suggests, is ideal for maintenance of fifth wheels on semi-trucks. It can also be used on trail hitches, mechanical joints and any other sliding or rolling metal-to-metal contact areas where NLGI grade 2 grease is needed.

Lubricants are a necessary part of maintenance, but it is no longer necessary to default to petroleum-based products. Make the switch to more environmentally sustainable maintenance today by trying EcoLine biobased greases for whatever industry in which you find yourself.
