ESPRIT 2020 features plentiful updates for Swiss-type machining. This technique is defined by its small, often intricate parts. Medical devices, such as bone screws, are typically manufactured on Swiss-type machines. ESPRIT’s 2020 update introduces or enhances support for 200 different Swiss-type machine models.

This laser scanner uses 3D reality capture. 3D reality capture is a process of scanning and capturing any site, for example, factories, buildings, crashes and crime scenes, in a 3D digital model, combining measurements and imagery. The model can be used for design and comparison purposes in various situations, capturing every detail with to-the-millimeter accuracy.

The Kurt pyramid workholding bundles facilitate clamping of three individual components in one fixture and completed in a single setup. The Kurt 45-degree design mounting surface is positioned so each vise provides maximum access to all machined surfaces and allows for enhanced spindle and cutting tool clearance.

The TungTurn-Jet system strategically directs the internal coolant jet exactly where it is needed, close to the cutting point on the insert rake face. The G4014-P groove turning holder makes it possible to change inserts in the machine – even where space is limited—in particular on long center lathes and multi-spindle machines. As a result, changing inserts is approximately 70% faster.

The L.S. Starrett Co. has introduced a newly designed rotary table springs force tester. The system is setup to test multiple springs in a single setup without the need for additional operator input as required when springs are tested one by one. The batch testing volume production approach saves time and significantly increases test throughput, while freeing up the operator to attend to other jobs.

Glebar Co. delivered a solution for grinding deodorant balls while reducing cycle times and improving throughput. Glebar developed ball grinding for the golf ball industry in the 1960s using centerless grinding fundamentals. The process was adapted to grind deodorant balls and other spherical or cylindrically shaped components. Glebar machines can grind most hard-to-turn materials such as carbon fiber, fiberglass and polypropylene.

Designed to ensure low cutting force, the TCL18-style chipbreaker is the latest addition to Tungaloy’s TetraMini-Cut line of grooving inserts offering four cutting edges. TetraMini-Cut features a compact grooving insert with economical four cutting edges.

Marposs has announced the availability of its Aeroel MecLab.X laser micrometer systems, providing ultrahigh accuracy diameter measurements for components such as electric motor shafts, gage or piston pins, hydraulic components or any number of ground or turned parts.
