Makino, Mastercam, Helical Solutions achieve aggressive material removal rate

CNC Software Inc., Helical Solutions LLC and Makino Inc. — a software developer, cutting tool maker and machine builder, respectively — share the results of their joint R&D project that began with an email introducing a new high-efficiency six-flute endmill with a chipbreaker. This report, which demonstrates how a 40in3 material removal rate was achieved, is a video supplement to the Get With The Program column in the August 2021 issue of Cutting Tool Engineering magazine.

Machine Assembly Services

An in-house Tormach professional will install, align, and test all pre-installed components (if partial assembly is chosen) and major systems to the machines for full assembly. This allows customers to speed up the time to commission their new machines quickly at their shop once they arrive.

microARC 4

The microARC 4 reduces both operator workload and cycle times with a high-quality, low-maintenance harmonic drive. The drive provides extremely precise motion control, coupled with much higher rapid speeds than a worm-drive unit.

QT-Ez Series CNC Turning Centers

Models within the new turning machine series include the QT-Ez 8, QT-Ez 10 and QT- Ez 12 each offered in 2-axis, M, MY and MSY versions. M versions include milling capability, MY machines feature milling and Y-axis off-centerline capability and MSY machines are a combination of both milling and Y axis capability paired with second turning spindles for complete DONE IN ONE® part processing. For further increased productivity and unmanned operations, the machines seamlessly integrate with bar feeders and robots.

Tips to improve performance by 500% when machining medical parts

CTE and the RobbJack Corporation in November 2020 presented a webinar titled, "Tips to Improve Performance by 500% When Machining Medical Parts." Presented by Mike MacArthur, RobbJack's vice president of engineering, the webinar examines new cutting technologies and strategies that solve many of the difficulties experienced by shops machining many materials specific to medical machining, including cobalt-chrome, titanium, stainless steel, PEEK and many others.
