Lubricut 1117 from Chemtool Inc. is a high-performance and versatile, chlorine free, semi-synthetic based metalworking fluid designed specifically for daily and general applications for both aluminum and ferrous alloys. Formulated with the latest chemical innovations for lubricity, wetting, multi-metal corrosion prevention and biostatic protection available, Lubricut 1117 helps to establish the standard for outstanding performance without the need for chlorine, according to the company. The unique emulsifier and detergency package inhibits bacterial problems and hard water soap formation typically associated with traditional soluble oil metalworking fluids. Lubricut 1117 also utilizes a high viscosity base oil blend for increased boundary film lubrication and superior film strength on machined/ground surfaces. It contains 15 percent hydrocarbon oil.
Lubricut 1117 incorporates a synthetic surface lubricant technology which offers comparable performance to traditional soluble oils containing chlorine, sulfur or phosphorus without the performance issues associated with them. Lubricut 1117 is enhanced with specialized corrosion inhibitors which offer outstanding corrosion protection/anti-staining properties on aerospace and automotive aluminum alloys. Lubricut 1117 is the result of extensive microbiological challenge evaluations and the formulation is completely free of formaldehyde releasers and DCHA.
Product benefits include:
Sulfonate Free Chemistry: Resistant to "Monday Morning Odors." Biostable chemistry maintains pH and alkalinity eliminating objectionable odors.
Hard Water Stable: LC 1117 trumps the hard water stability of traditional soluble oils through the utilization of stable emulsifier-chelant technologies for better wetting and lubricity.
Formaldehyde Independent: No need for tank side pH buffers, emulsifiers, or costly and hazardous biocides: formaldehyde and DCHA free.
Chlorine Free Chemistry: LC 1117 eliminates the need for chlorine with a unique blend of synthetic esters and high molecular weight base oils.
Balanced corrosion inhibition system for both non-ferrous and ferrous metals.
Balanced lubrication regime for premium performance.
Low odor and low misting properties for worker acceptance and safety.
Developed through extensive microbiological challenge testing at independent laboratories.
Related Glossary Terms
- alloys
alloys
Substances having metallic properties and being composed of two or more chemical elements of which at least one is a metal.
- aluminum alloys
aluminum alloys
Aluminum containing specified quantities of alloying elements added to obtain the necessary mechanical and physical properties. Aluminum alloys are divided into two categories: wrought compositions and casting compositions. Some compositions may contain up to 10 alloying elements, but only one or two are the main alloying elements, such as copper, manganese, silicon, magnesium, zinc or tin.
- film strength
film strength
Relative ability of a fluid to form a film between workpiece and tool, under the influence of temperature and pressure, to prevent metal-to-metal contact. See lubricity.
- lubricity
lubricity
Measure of the relative efficiency with which a cutting fluid or lubricant reduces friction between surfaces.
- metalworking
metalworking
Any manufacturing process in which metal is processed or machined such that the workpiece is given a new shape. Broadly defined, the term includes processes such as design and layout, heat-treating, material handling and inspection.
