Mitsubishi Materials announces an expansion to the GY series with its GY-PSC type holders.

ESPRIT 2016 from DP Technology Corp. features a new innovative high speed lathe roughing strategy, called ProfitTurning that implements ESPRIT’s new physics-based cutting engine. While traditional cutting strategies only consider the geometry of the part, ProfitTurning creates the toolpath considering multiple cutting factors and machine characteristics that impact machining performance.

Microlution Inc., Chicago, recently introduced its MR-4 Precision Micro Lathe turning platform that reportedly offers positional accuracy of +/-0.00004" (1µm), maximum acceleration better than 2g, spindle speeds up to 15,000 rpm, tooling speeds up to 30,000 rpm and torque up to 6 Nm (S1), according to the company's website.

Wohlhaupter Corp. has upgraded its popular 019 boring head and made it “digital ready.” The VarioBore head can be ordered with or without a docking port and associated internal electronics to accommodate the new Universal Digital Readout Module.

Sugino Corp. introduces the new Barriquan family of self-compensating deburring toolholders. Barriquan toolholders have integral tension and compression designed for hard tool deburring of all materials and part shapes.

For longitudinal and face turning, Sandvik Coromant introduces the CoroTurn 300 for higher component quality, increased handling efficiency and longer tool life in steel turning operations. The CoroTurn 300 features stable insert clamping, as well as eight-edged inserts for the high chip control, tool life and surface finish.

Briney Tooling Systems worked closely with a manufacturer to develop a special dual-contact, CAT 50, stick turning toolholder for an Okuma MacTurn 550 mill/turn center. The customer had some special turning stick tools that were 1.5-inches square and there was no standard for the lathe stick tools.
