The outer race of the ball bearing is embedded in the POM plastic of the guide roller during the molding process. Each roller is machined to precise dimensions for an exact runout, which makes cylindrical and convex shaping of the running surface possible. Convex rolling surfaces compensate for alignment errors by preventing them from running on corners or edges.

In a field study on an aluminum cylinder head, the application of the extended drill was able to achieve a tool life of 2,000 parts per drill when machining holes of 8 mm diameter at 5,000 RPM in the cut and a feed rate of 1200mm/minute. Prior to the deep hole gundrill operation, there were two twist drill passes with the gundrill connecting the center portion of this feature in the head.

With the new feature for creating generic revolved tools, operators can customize the shape of the cutting and non-cutting parts of the tool for all triangle mesh-based roughing strategies. Customized tools avoid over-simplifications because they take specific features of the tool shape into account during the toolpath calculation to deliver a realistic simulation of the material removal process.

HxGN Machine Trainer is based on the new generation of NCSIMUL and I++simulation software, combining software and hardware to create a solution that is practical and easy to learn. Based on modeled machine kinematic Digital Twins, the HxGN Machine Trainer presents numerous learning opportunities using realistic simulations for 3-to-5 axis milling, mill-turn and CMM operation. Specific situations such as collisions or machine restarts can be emulated to mimic operational or emergency procedures.

The drills are coolant-through, straight flute (G-drills), with emulsion or oil and coolant pressure of 145-580 PSI (10-40 bar). They are offered in cylindrical shank configuration and have a 120° point angle with tolerance of m7. While the previous FormControl version (without the “X”) was based on a scenario in which a machine operator works at a machine with the laptop and processes the measurements at the same time, the trend today is moving toward automating such processes, meaning this 1:1 relationship is now fairly rare. Genuine automation of workpiece measurement also opens up completely new areas of application. That is why the goal with FormControl X was to enable real measurement automation on the basis of a modern client-server architecture – this means moving away from pure logging and towards process integration and automation with the help of the measurement data collected by the software.

FlexiumPro’s Real-Time Kernel (RTK) hosts an embedded Codesys V3 PLC and a CNC unit. Based on a multi-core ARM processor, the RTK is implemented using advanced system-on-chip (SoC) technology. The tightly integrated nature of this technology helps to significantly reduce the component count, resulting in improved system reliability and compactness. The single-board and fan-less design of the RTK unit is only 25 mm wide.
