iglidur K230 Wear-Resistant Material
igus has developed a new tribo-plastic material for clip and flanged bearings that is highly elastic, chemical resistant and withstands moisture. The wear-resistant material, iglidur K230, will be used in clip and flanged bearings, which are commonly used in the sheet metal industry.
Full-Grip Jaws
Dillon full-grip jaws, machined from 6061 extruded aluminum, provide added options for full-grip jaw customers who have traditionally used cast aluminum jaws. Available from 5" to 24" in diameter, these jaws can be modified to heights of 10" and provide widths that extend beyond the chuck face diameter.
Leveling Foot Castors
The leveling foot castors offered as part of the WDS Component Parts Ltd. range of castors and wheels for trolleys and mobile equipment are designed to allow vertical adjustment so that the supported equipment can be leveled. Hypertherm is launching Robotmaster V7, a task-based robot programming platform built from scratch on a new architecture. Robotmaster V7 caters to process experts to make robot programming easy and intuitive, even for first-time robot users. This new programming platform builds on the performance of Robotmaster's offline programming CAD/CAM software that was first introduced in 2002.
Bench Grinder Safety Gauge
OSHA 29 CFR SubPart O 1910.215 for bench grinders is one of the most frequently cited machine-safety standards for violations during OSHA inspections, and one of the most dangerous to ignore. OSHA 1910.215 is a "machine specific" (vertical) regulation with a number of requirements, which if left unchecked, are often cited by OSHA as violations.
H-811.F2 Compact Hexapod
PI has added a high dynamics model to its range of compact hexapods. Designed for photonics alignment applications, the hexapod provides 6 degrees of freedom, actuator resolution of 5 nanometers and repeatability as good as 60 nanometers, while providing velocities to 20mm/sec.

Machinists Inc. Balances Job Shop Work with Public Art Projects
Some people say there is an art to machining. In some cases, there is actual artwork. Machinists Inc. in Seattle, the largest precision machining shop in the Northwest, has made big sculptures since the early 1990s. The first piece was a 17'×13'×3' steel sculpture that hangs in Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, and many more have followed.
Admitting my mistakes
I received an email from a reader letting me know that he disagreed with my recent article on tapping versus thread milling. In it, I stated, "There's little chance of successfully thread milling metals much above 45 HRC. And if you're going to try to tap them, be prepared to duck the flying shrapnel when the tap explodes!" We all make mistakes.
