Identifying the immediate ROI in IIoT
By now, most manufacturers have heard of the promise of the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT). In manufacturing's future, newly installed sensors will collect previously unavailable data on equipment, parts, inventory and even personnel that will then be shared with existing systems in an interconnected "smart" system where machines learn from other machines and executives can analyze reports based on the accumulated data.
2018 Versions of PowerMill and FeatureCAM
The 2018 versions of PowerMill and FeatureCAM are available. The focus this year was on user experience and the software includes many new enhancements.
Ball-Grip Chucks
Ball-Grip chucks are used for first operation roughing and/or second operation finishing. The basic chuck is modified to suit machine mounting, the need for coolant and/or air through, and mounting for top tooling, which is designed to a customer's part and machining requirements.

Agile1500 is the first automated guided vehicle within the new AGV platform and expresses Comau's open automation design approach.
Metric-sized Metals
Parker Steel Co. offers a large supply of metric-sized metals in North America. Suitable for applications where presized metric parts are needed, Parker's cold-finished carbon, alloyed and high-strength stainless steel bars/shafting, tubing, sheets and plates; carbon and stainless angles, channels and tees; and carbon beams can be shipped out the same day as ordered with few exceptions.
LinX Linear Motor Technology
Highly polished flutes and gash surfaces improve chip evacuation and aid tool performance. The smoother surface enables swarf (or chips) to exit more freely, preventing chip packing and material build up during machining. ANCA has addressed this goal with innovations reportedly found only at the ANCA Group.
MGR5 Microgripper for Small, Fragile Part Assembly
A lightweight microgripper, the MGR5 was designed for small, fragile part assembly. The MGR brings operation force 10 gram or less capability into range. Light moving mass reduces impact force during small product placement.
Thulium-Doped Fiber Optic Components
A new range of Thulium-doped fiber optic components from Coherent | Nufern enables construction of fiber lasers and oscillators operating at ~ 2 µm with higher output power than was previously possible. Specifically, advances in Thulium doping technology deliver significantly improved pumping efficiency, yielding higher power output (>1 kW) for gain fibers.

Model 6190 High Lift Chip Trapper
EXAIR's new patented High Lift Chip Trapper offers a fast, easy way to clean coolant sumps, waste oil pits or wells. High Lift Chip Trapper removes the solids such as chips, swarf and shavings out of used coolants and other liquids with up to 15 feet of lift or 20 feet of horizontal vacuum.
