Acecool 5679 Glass Grinding and Drilling Coolant
Chemetall introduces high-performance glass grinding and drilling coolants. Acecool 5679 increases glass grinding and drilling processing speeds while reducing the amount of dressings. The result is increased output of glass parts at low coolant concentrations without burning and greater tool life, according to the company.
Single-Axis Compliant Deburring Tools
ATI Industrial Automation has developed a new series of single-axis compliant deburring tools. The RS-151, RS-340 and RS-660-ER models provide radial, single-axis compliance, allowing the spindle and cutter to pivot in one plane about a single-axis to provide high stiffness parallel to (and excellent compliance perpendicular to) the direction of motion resulting in exceptional surface finishes.

Gilman Precision debuts Web-based product design tool
Gilman Precision, Grafton, Wis., recently launched a web-based product configuration tool Intended to improve the process of viewing and adjusting product specifications. The Gilman 3D Linear Products CAD Configurator will serve engineers and other prospects by allowing them to select, view and insert Gilman 3D CAD models and 2D drawings directly into their own CAD systems, according to the company.
Jet Edge launches Choice Waterjet Parts Division
Jet Edge Inc., a manufacturer of ultra-high pressure waterjet technology based in St. Michael, Minn., in February launched an aftermarket waterjet parts division, Choice Waterjet Parts Inc. Choice Waterjet Parts supplies ultra-high pressure (UHP) waterjet components for major brands of waterjet cutting systems, including Flow, Omax, KMT, Bystronic and WSI.
Gleason Corp. establishes engineering fellowships
The Gleason Corp., Rochester, N.Y., recently donated $300,000 to establish two doctoral fellowships that will be incorporated into the engineering program at the Kate Gleason College of Engineering at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT).
Mastercam 2017 released for public testing worldwide
Mastercam 2017 is now in public beta, which means the next version of the software is available for testing by "currently maintained" Mastercam customers, according to a recent news release from CNC Software.
MIL-Spec 5015 Connectors
The MIL-Spec 5015 series from Mencom Corp. was originally designed for severe aeronautical and tactical service applications. The new UBT-T4 universal single-roll burnishing tool from Cogsdill Tool Products Inc. offers a compact design for use where limited space is available. This turning-holder-style tool is designed for, but not limited to, use on multispindle automatic and screw machines.
Additions to OptiMill Milling Cutter Line
With trochoidal milling, significant improvements in terms of tool costs, clamping, processing times and load on the machine components can be achieved in many applications compared to conventional milling. For this milling technique, MAPAL has expanded its OptiMill product range by adding mills for the machining of titanium and high-alloy steels, as well as for hard machining.
Mapal Boring Bars
To make the fine machining of the crankshaft bearing journals on a machining centre economical, line boring bars are often used. With an innovative concept, MAPAL has been able, in collaboration with a machine manufacturer, to optimize this processing in several ways: Compared with conventional line boring bars, quality can be increased, processing can be sped up, and tool service life can be increased, all thanks to the new line boring bars with compensation-enabled cutting edges.
