FMT beveling tools
FMT beveling tools from Fastenal Co. are for cutting inside and outside bevels, pipe beveling, countersinking and generating radius paint edges. The spark-free, heat-free tools enable users to make head changes in 30 seconds. The electric FMT Bevel Mate is capable of bevel depths up to ½" (12.7mm), and the pneumatic FMT Bevel Mite is capable of bevel depths up to ¼" (6.4mm).
PCD05- and PCD20-grade PCD-tipped milling inserts
Seco Tools LLC offers PCD05- and PCD20-grade PCD-tipped milling inserts for its Turbo 10 cutter bodies. The inserts are suitable for cutting aluminum, titanium, polymers and fiber-reinforced composites. When used with carbide inserts, the PCD-tipped inserts act as wiper inserts in fixed pockets.
SHEARDRILL solid-carbide drill
Morse Cutting Tools offers the SHEARDRILL solid-carbide drill. With a 140° performance point, the drill machines steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, cast iron and other materials, according to the company. The drill is available in through-coolant (3 and 5 diameters deep) and non-through-coolant (3 diameters deep) versions.
1:4 live tool speed multipliers
Heimatec Inc.'s line of 1:4 live tool speed multipliers enable tools to reach a maximum speed of 24,000 rpm. They are available for all popular live tool lathes. The speed multipliers are provided as axial or radial drilling and milling heads, with either internal or external coolant.
TriSpector1000 Vision Sensor
SICK announced the launch of the TriSpector1000 vision sensor for cost-efficient and reliable 3D inspection. The TriSpector1000 is a stand-alone, configurable 3D vision sensor that reliably inspects objects regardless of variations in object color, shape or position.
pomBasic Inspection Device
Zoller Inc. offers the »pomBasic« inspection device. The »pomSoft« image-processing software measures the geometries of drills, milling cutters, countersinks and now saw blades.
Röhm expands service in Mexico
Röhm Products Mexico S. de R.L. de C.V., a subsidiary of Röhm GmbH, recently opened a new office in Monterrey, Mexico, in an effort to expand the company's sales, service and support capabilities to meet increasing demand for high-quality clamping and gripping technology throughout Mexico and Central America, the company reported in a Feb.
Hyper Spindles
NT Tool's Hyper Spindles use a 1:5 ratio internal gear system to multiply the RPM of existing machines up to 5 times at the cutting edge, with a maximum of 30,000 min-1, according to a recent announcement from the Franklin, Tenn., company.
DT-2 and DM-2 machining centers
Haas Automation recently expanded its drill, tap and mill product line with a pair of high-speed, lean-style machining centers—the DT-2 and DM-2—that reportedly provide the same high acceleration rates, fast axis speeds and short tool change times as their smaller brethren.
MU-4000V vertical machining center
Okuma America, Charlotte, N.C., recently introduced the MU-4000V, a 5-axis vertical machining center said to be ideal for 5-axis multi-sided machining within the aerospace and die/mold industries. The MU-4000V reportedly offers high-speed, process intensive machining combined with turning and 5-axis multitasking machining.
VS 101 Camera System
Schaumburg-based Heidenhain recently introduced the VS 101 camera system as a new feature of its flagship TNC 640 mill-turn machine in order to automatically monitor the setup situation and machining result, according to a a company news release.
Diamond Burnishing Tools
Diamond burnishing is ideal for a variety of parts and ductile metals under 40 HRC, including steel, stainless steel, aluminum and cast iron. A cast iron shaft which started at a preburnished 67 Ra microinch surface finish yielded a 10 Ra microinch finish with a 0.0005" material compression in a single pass at 750 sfm.
