Parylene is the ultimate protective coating, and is used for customers that require protection of equipment, components, and surfaces in a range of end-use applications. Parylene is a hydrophobic polymer which is lightweight and can be applied as an extremely thin homogeneous film. This film is absolutely smooth and totally transparent, and does not cause any unwanted effects such as surface tension and distortion. The coating provides incredible resistance to aggressive media and liquid hydrocarbons, and can also be used as a diffusion barrier to gases.

EcoShield® 386 FD Water Based Micro Corrosion Inhibiting Coating is a force-dry version of Cortec’s top water-based anticorrosion coating, EcoShield® VpCI®-386. As such, EcoShield® 386 FD offers excellent corrosion protection at 1.5-3.0 mils (37.5-75 µm) DFT (dry film thickness). The advantage is that EcoShield® 386 FD force-dries in only 5-10 minutes at 150 °F (54 °C) and has good hot hardness, which keeps the hot coated parts from sticking together before they can cool down.

This media has a patented shape without any flat, parallel surface areas. On the one hand this unique design prevents media lodging in the work pieces, which can occur particularly in case of complex work pieces. Such lodged media can severely affect the finishing process and must frequently be removed by hand. On the other hand, the shape with its rounded surface areas allows the surface refinement of work pieces, which to-date could not be handled by mass finishing at all or only with very complicated operational setups. This includes components with difficult-to-reach surface areas like tight radii, undercuts, notches and slits, which can frequently be found in stamped and bent components.

Operating at the optimum temperature range of 200° – 210°F as the original Tru Temp XL, TRU TEMP 2nd GEN makes it easy to use in-house and operator friendly. The chemistry is easy to manage and contains no EPA regulated metals, so rinse waters are generally sewerable by neutralizing the pH with a typical discharge range of pH 7-11. Additionally, reaching this pH range takes only 20% of the acid than other processes. Since TRU TEMP 2nd GEN requires no effluent treatment, the initial capital investment is only about half of other blackening finishes. 

Drawing on its deep materials science expertise, Kennametal developed KAR85-AM-K to provide corrosion and wear resistant properties analogous to its conventional counterpart grade, CN13S. Combined with Kennametal’s binder jet additive manufacturing capabilities, KAR85-AM-K results in fully densified, corrosion resistant components that meet or exceed the properties of conventionally manufactured carbide components.

 VpCI-369 is an oil-based temporary coating that provides extreme corrosion protection in aggressive environments and is one of Cortec’s most-popular wet film corrosion inhibitors. It is an excellent option for protecting auto service parts and heavy equipment components before assembly. Since VpCI-369 is thixotropic, it can be mixed so that the product changes consistency to enhance sprayability for application with an airless sprayer. Once applied, it thickens so that it does not run off the metal. VpCI-369 can be tinted to blue, green, or other custom colors if desired to help workers detect sufficient product coverage.

The diamond coating portfolio covers the entire spectrum of demanding machining applications and is divided into two groups of different base materials. The EZ-Puller is an auto-adjusting bar puller that enables automatic operation of CNC lathes. The auto adjust feature is driven by an "X" value in the pulling subroutine of a lathe program. Nanodiamond material specialist Carbodeon of Finland has worked with metal finishing specialist CCT Plating of Germany to develop a new electroless nickel, PTFE and nanodiamond composite coating. Electroless nickel-PTFE (EN-PTFE) coatings provide excellent anti-adhesive and low friction properties but are traditionally soft and wear quickly in abrasive conditions. By adding NanoDiamond particles to the EN-PTFE coating, Carbodeon has been able to improve the abrasive wear resistance of these coatings without compromising the sliding or release properties.
